NOVA*JungbrunnenHamburgerBahnhofMuseumBerlin

NOVA*Jungbrunnen is a site-specific art installation and Drinking Water Fountain & Crystals. The 3.5-meter-high translucent cylindrical tower creates a gravitational center, attracting people around and fostering a collective ritual centered around water and the act of drinking it.

First unveiled at the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum in Berlin in 2017 during the Future Nows Festival organised by the Institut für Raumexperimente under the direction of Olafur Eliasson and coordinated by Cristina Werner, the fountain was installed in the museum's ruins hall. Complementing the fountain were five tea stations, each featuring specific herbs and crystals. This setup encouraged visitors to take the time to enjoy tea and water, bringing groups of people together in the ruins, which became an integral and cherished part of the museum. The installation fostered a welcoming environment for reflection, sharing and wonder.

The realisation of NOVA*Jungbrunnen involved the collaboration of more than 30 partners. Performances and singing in honor of water were carried out by Mari Mar, Danilo Timm, and Elana Katz, while musical experiments were conducted by Denis Altschul. Tomas Espinosa and friends partnered to create clay sculptures for water vessels and 300 ceramic cups. Ten other partners facilitated the tea experience, and Stefano, an engineer from designing Berlin, oversaw the planning and installation process. The water filtration system was provided by MINT Engineering, while highest quality white quartz was sourced from Mineralien Egger and acrylic glass was supplied by BS Kunststoffe Berlin.
